Women Who Play With Fire: Fuel Girl Auditions

It has been far too long since I last posted on my blog which is a shame as I have dozens potential shoots I'd love to share with you! To get things back on track, I thought I'd post some photos from the Fuel Girls audition a few weeks back.

If you haven't heard of the Fuel Girls before, where have you been?! The troop of edgy, leather-clad, female fire-performers have been dazzling audiences around the globe for the best part of a decade. I was very fortunate to be invited along to Proud Camden to check out the swathes of new talent all vying for a place on the team.

I get a lot of pleasure from photographing fire performers as it really challenges my ability. There are so many variables to consider and my goal is to expose the face (and body) correctly while still capturing all the magical detail in the flame itself. This is complicated by a usually dark room and a fair amount of movement - it's a fine line between nailing the shot and messing it up completely! I've managed to hone my skills over the years and think I don't do too badly. Here are some of the highlights - what do you reckon?

The evening culminated in a spectacular aerial-chains display by Fuel Girls regular, Katrina Louise (whom you may recognise from previous blogs):

That's your lot! Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog - I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Catch you next time,
